WIN BETS

Win Single

Example - £7 at 11-2 Convert odds to decimals (5.5) add one point (6.5) multiply by stake: 6.5 x 7 = £45.50 return

Win Double, Treble, Accumulator

Example - £5 treble at 3-1, 4-5, 9-4 Convert odds to decimals (3, 0.8, 2.25) add one point to each (4, 1.8, 3.25) multiply through 4 x 1.8 x 3.25 = 23.4 ; multiply by stake: 23.4 x 5 = £117 return

EACH-WAY BETS

Odds for places are calculated as follows:

  • 2 - 4 runners No place betting
  • 5 - 7 runners 1st and 2nd: one-quarter odds (0.25)
  • 8 + runners 1st, 2nd and 3rd: one-fifth odds (0.2)
  • 12 - 15 runners (handicap) 1st, 2nd and 3rd: one-quarter odds (0.25)
  • 16 + runners (handicap) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th: one-quarter odds (0.25)
Each-Way Single

Example - £3 each way (win and place) at 7-1 in a 13 runner handicap: cost £6. First calculate £3 win at 7-1 as in win single above. Convert odds to decimals (7) add one point (8) multiply by stake: 8 x 3 = £24 win return Next calculate £3 place at 7-1. Deduct stake from win return (24 - 3 = 21) Multiply by the appropriate fraction (in this case one-quarter): 21 x 0.25 = 5.25 Add stake: 5.25 + 3 = £8.25 place return. Add win return: £24 + £8.25 = £32.25 total return.

A quick calculation if your selection is placed but does not win: Multiply odds by fraction 7 x 0.25 = 1.75 add 1 (2.75) Multiply by stake: 2.75 x 3 = £8.25 return

Each-Way Double, Treble, Accumulator

Example - £6 each way on an evens winner (one-fifth odds, place); 6-1 2nd (one-quarter odds); 7-2 3rd (one-fifth odds) - cost £12 Win Bet: lost in this example as all selections must win* Place Bet: calculate place prices by calculating odds to decimals and multiplying by appropriate fraction 1 x 0.2 = 0.2; 6 x 0.25 = 1.5; 3.5 x 0.2 = 0.7 Add one point to each; multiply through; multiply by stake: 1.2 x 2.5 x 1.7 x 6 = £30.60 return

In the event that all selections win calculate this portion of the bet as above in Win Double, Treble, Accumulator section and add to place return.

Each-Way Multiple Bets

Treat all each way multiple bets as two bets, one for the win part and one for the place part. Calculate the win part as explained above, for the place part multiply the odds by the appropriate decimal (see Each-Way bets) then calculate as for the win part and ad the two together.
